HOB is one of China’s top In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) companies. It specializes in the immunoassay field. HOB is the market leader in the allergy and autoimmune disease diagnosis market in China. The company was founded by returnees from the USA in 2006. Its founders worked in the USA for multi-national companies for many years at executive positions before coming back to China. The company culture is a combination of western influence and China local practices. Since its foundation, it has achieved high sales growth with decent profit margin. Its current sales approach US$20 million, and continue to grow with new product launching from the R&D pipeline.

HOB has two facilities, one in Beijing and one in Suzhou. Both have R&D labs. Suzhou facility is located at China’s best and most beautiful biotech park—Biobay. HOB has large scale manufacturing capability.

HOB’s current technology platform is mainly Elisa or revised Elisa technology. The executive team of HOB realized the needs and benefits of new chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) technology. HOB strives to build new CLIA based platform with automation, while keep improving and expanding its Elisa product line. The company has committed enough resources for its R&D operation. The support of local government and the planned IPO will further increase HOB’s investment in the technology platform building and new product development.

The R&D and technology team is currently composed of 16 people, and expected to expand quickly to 50-60 in the next few years. The regulatory, purchase and other supporting departments also dot-line report to the VP.

HOB is planning the IPO in China in the next two years. HOB’s strategy is to strengthen its market leader position in the allergy and autoimmune market in China while seeking opportunities to enter other market sectors and segments in immunoassay, such as tumor markers, infectious disease and so on. This will be achieved by upgrading its technical platform from Elisa based to CLIA with automation.

Position Summary

As a key member of the top executive management team and reporting to the CEO, The Vice President (VP) is responsible for establishing the company’s technical vision and leading all aspects of the company’s technology and product development. The VP is the company’s top technology executive, playing a critical role in the company’s strategic direction, development, and future growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of technology strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships. 

• Build and manage a top-flight technology team and oversee research and development, as well as project management.

• Lead the company in upgrading to CLIA based platform with automation, while improving and expanding its Elisa based technology...

• Anticipate and react to major technology changes to ensure the maintenance of company leadership in the competitive landscape.

• Review and re-establish technical management policies, SOPs and standards.  Ensure adherence to them for product development and company operations. .

• Direct the whole new product transfer and assist the product commercialization process, starting from product design to the product registration and sales support.

• Responsible for budgeting, resource allocation and control for the R&D and R&D related operations of the company.

• Assisting the SFDA, CE and FDA audit and product registration.

• Initiate and maintain contacts with international and domestic technical and business partners, build up cooperation with them.

Requirements

• At least ten years in the IVD industry in the field of immunoassay, with at least 5 years in senior R&D or technical management...

• Demonstrated ability to interpret technology and market trends as a foundation for technology and product roadmaps.

• Master or PhD level education in medical science, immunology or biotech, from reputable universities, overseas education a big plus

• Familiar with Elisa and CLIA technology platform, with hands-on experience.

• Experience in allergy and autoimmune a big plus.

• Strong leadership and management skills, work in a proactive way.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in both Chinese and English.

• Very high ethical standard, with no compromise in personal integrity.

Compensation:

We provide decent compensation package. As a key member of the top management team, the stock option provided for this position is very generous. The work location is Suzhou or Beijing. For those relocating to Suzhou or Beijing, we provide assistance in local housing and company car services. This position requires frequent traveling within China and overseas.
